Buy LEDs OnLine how to run convert a Ceilling Light to use a
high power LED
Instructions for converting Ceilling Light
from incandesant or twisty florcent bulbs
to High Power LED.
First, why would you want to do this? Simple to save money? You could save by just
replacing the old incandesant bulb with a twisty bulb. That will help the electric bill, but if
can run continously for a long time, but each time you turn it off or no it shortens it's life
drasticly. The twisty bulb also contains mercury!  Remember mercury? It seems that the
Goverment can't remember trying to get rid of it's use in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Each
Twisty bulb cost around $4.00 and in my bathroom last about 3 months before having to
be replaced.  The LED on the other hand is not damaged by turning it off and on. It will
last from 50000 - 100000 hours of "On" time that it 5-10 years if left on continously! if it
is used 8 hours a day that means that it could last 15-30 years! using my bathroom
lights as a compairson you would use 60 twisty bulbs in 15 years and 120 in 30 years.
That amounts $240 - 480 spent on replacement twisty bulbs vs- $5-50 for the LED light.
When you add the cost to send the bulbs to the landfill (not a good idea for the mercury
based twisty's) or to reclaim the mercury the twisty bulbs start to look a little more
expensive. The LEDs are as energy efficient or more energy efficient than the Florisent
bulbs. Me I just like to think about not having to change a bulb every three months. with
this said, let me continue with creation / conversion of the Ceiling Light I am using in my
new Bathroom.
